FEATHERWEIGHT BOUT
"Spitfire" Kyra Braddock -VS- Raquel Herrera
Kyra: Two losses out of three fights isn't how I planned to start my MMA career. So it's high time I turn things around. Raquel may be good on the ground, but she won't be able to keep up with my pace. I'm going to overwhelm her.
Raquel: This is my opportunity to come into SPIRIT FC with a big win against a fighter who hasn't done so well yet. Where Kyra lacks in grappling, she more than makes up for in standup and ground and pound. That's what I need to watch out for.
"SPITFIRE" KYRA BRADDOCK
Origin: ENG
Height: 5'1"
Weight: 103 lbs
Record: 1-2-0
Strength: Excellent Striking/Ground & Pound
RAQUEL HERERRA
Origin: USA
Height: 5'3"
Weight: 120 lbs
Record: 0-0-0
Strength: Kickboxing/BJJ
ROUND ONE: Things started off relatively slow, with both women looking to find their range. The newcomer Hererra seemed tentative, using feints and leg kicks much of the time. Braddock saw this, and started to push Raquel towards the outside edge of the cage, while trying to land one-two combos. Raquel circled, but Kyra kept up the pressure, and eventually clinched up, forcing Hererra against the cage. Raquel's defense in the clinch clearly needed work, as Kyra used her superior strength to keep her pressed against the fence, while using dirty boxing quite effectively. Hererra's only hope was to gain the takedown as the round wound down, but Kyra stopped it.
ROUND TWO: Hererra had a cut under her right eye from Kyra's dirty boxing, and Braddock zoned in on that for much of the second round. The jab was especially useful in this endeavor, forcing Raquel to protect her right side as much as she could. But that in turn opened her up for big rights. And as her corner instructed her to, Kyra mixed in leg and body kicks at the end of her combos. Raquel landed some good shots too, even knocking Braddock down at one point. But before Hererra could mount her, the "Spitfire" quickly returned to her feet. Raquel then trapped an incoming kick to the body, and used it to attempt a single leg. However Kyra kept her balance and managed to get out of it, clinching up with Raquel once again as the round ended.
ROUND THREE: Having pushed the pace the previous two rounds, Braddock was showing some fatigue in the third. But Raquel Hererra looked to be worse off - her right eye almost completely swollen shut. She continued to protect that side though, leaving herself open to more abuse to the left side. And Kyra continued to land shots to the right as well. Raquel knew she had to finish Kyra this round, if she had any hope of winning the fight. And as a result, she was more focused on taking it to the ground, realizing that her standup just wasn't cutting it. Braddock went back to the clinch, but this time Raquel surprised her - taking her down into side control. She used some elbows there, but Kyra defended herself well - landing a few shots of her own. She tried to force Raquel into half guard, but Hererra's BJJ was just plain better, and she maintained control. Despite Kyra's best efforts, Raquel even moved into the north/south position, looking for a kimura shoulder lock. But defended it, and got her back into side control as the round ended.
WINNER: "Spitfire" Kyra Braddock at 5:00 of Round 3 via Unanimous Decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28)
FEATHERWEIGHT BOUT
Chiyo "Burning Calm" Asaka -VS- Tesla St. James
Chiyo: Tesla's tournament loss was a big shock. Winning her next fight was no surprise though. She's on her way up in the featherweight division. But first, there's a bump in the road for her - and it's called "Burning Calm". If she gets past me, no one will cheer her harder.
Tesla: I feel really good about this fight. Chiyo has the edge in standup, but I know I can beat her on the ground. She has the endurance to last five rounds if it went that long, but survival instincts always win when your arm's being pulled out of its socket
CHIYO "BURNING CALM" ASAKA
Origin: JPN
Height: 5'2"
Weight: 120 lbs
Record: 1-1-0
Strength: Standup/Wrestling
TESLA ST. JAMES
Origin: USA
Height: 5'7"
Weight: 121 lbs
Record: 1-1-0
Strength: Boxing/Submission Specialist
ROUND ONE: Not fifteen seconds into the fight, "Burning Calm" scored with a huge head kick that floored Tesla. The ref moved in to check if she was out, but St. James immediately protected herself. That said, Asaka didn't pounce on her for some ground pound. Instead, she stalked Tesla, battering her with leg kicks. St. James did her best to land up-kicks, but Chiyo dodged most of them. Eventually the ref stood Tesla up, and the two women continued from there. Asaka continued to land inside leg kicks pretty much at will, while also mixing in a good amount of jabs and hooks as well. She again stunned Tesla, though this time it was due to an apparently broken nose. Tesla reacted quickly though, shooting in for a double leg takedown. Asaka blocked it well though, connecting with a brutal knee to the chin. But Tesla was apparently saved by the bell, at least for this round.
ROUND TWO: St. James looked severely battered coming into the second round, while Asaka was still very fresh and ready to go. But despite the three cuts on her face - including the now confirmed broken nose, Tesla remained focused. Asaka wasted no time clinching up this time. And while she was the better of the two in that position - mostly landing big knees to the gut while she pressed St. James against the cage, Tesla kept her cool and fought for a single leg takedown. "Burning Calm" hobbled on one foot for a long minute, but eventually Tesla scored the takedown. Sliding Asaka towards the fence to minimize her movement, Tesla went to work with some vicious elbows - opening a cut on Chiyo in return. "Burning Calm" tried to sit up using the cage, but St. James pulled her back down. Posturing up, Tesla started unloading on Asaka, but couldn't finish her before the round ended.
ROUND THREE: Chiyo came out of the gate in the final round looking for another big head kick. However, St. James was able to get an arm up in time, blocking the massive blow. She tried another one later on, but Tesla simply evaded it altogether. That lead Asaka to focus her attention on the legs again, along with haymakers as hard as she could throw them. "Red Irish" wasn't interested in standing with her at this point in the fight though, and scored the takedown again off one of "Burning Calm's" leg kicks. Asaka's superior positioning came into effect here though, as she managed to reverse their positions, assuming the mount herself. Tesla pulled her close though, and continuously worked to gain the submission. She had Chiyo in a triangle at one point, but Asaka powered out of it. She couldn't escape the omoplata though, and was forced to tap very late in the third.
WINNER: Tesla St. James at 4:41 of Round 3 via Submission (Omoplata)
LIGHTWEIGHT BOUT
"The Radical" Sophia Reynolds -VS- Clementina Vargas
Clementina: I need to turn things around, and this fight with Sophia is where it starts. I've watched what little tape there is of Sophia. She's new, but I'm not taking that for granted. I've trained my ass off for this fight. I HAVE to win.
Sophia: My trainers tell me that Clementina and I are very similar in style and ability. That she has knockout power, just like me. Not <expletive> likely, not against me. I've got a few surprises in store for her.

CLEMENTINA VARGAS
Origin: BRA
Height: 5'6"
Weight: 140 lbs
Record: 0-2-0
Strength: Deadly Muay Thai/Takedown Defense
ROUND ONE: Vargas charged in towards Sophia trying to knock her out right off the bat. Reynolds proved to be very elusive though, constantly circling and using counterstrike combos. At the end of every combo, she landed a leg kick - trying to soften Clementina up for the takedown. But after each kick landed, Sophia moved away again, forcing Vargas to close the distance. Growing increasingly frustrated, Vargas tried to throw some of her own kicks aimed at the body and head, but Reynolds kept moving just out of their reach. What's more, Sophia used great head movement to avoid Vargas' onslaught - while landing some big hooks herself. The round ended with Clementina trying her best to land some shots, and Sophia just picking her own shots at will.
ROUND TWO: Vargas corner tried to calm her down inbetween rounds, but at the start of the second round, she charged right at Reynolds once again. And again her efforts to finish Reynolds off were thwarted nicely by the Irishwoman. However, Sophia made a critical mistake falling for a feint and ducking into an uppercut which staggered her against the cage. Clementina sprung into action, trying to land as many shots as possible, as hard as possible. Reynolds looked finished for a minute, but she recovered and circled out of harm's way nicely. And immediately shot in for a single leg. Vargas kept her balance though, and stuffed the takedown attempt. Both women exchanged blows in the clinch as the round ended.
ROUND THREE: Sophia looked dominant throughout the third round, picking her shots with punches and leg kicks - while staying just out of Vargas' reach. Vargas' legs were covered in welts, and she looked unsteady on her feet. Fatigue was setting in for both women, especially Clementina, as the pace slowed considerably. Nevertheless, she tried a flying knee, but Reynolds caught the leg and took her down. "The Radical" tried her best to score the submission there, but both women were sweaty, and Vargas was able to escape back to her feet. As the round started to wind down, and despite her battered legs, Clementina caught Reynolds by surprise with a big right hand that knocked her to the mat. Vargas pounced on her from there, and landed some ferocious elbows before the referee pulled her off to stop the fight.
WINNER: Clementina Vargas at 4:029 of Round 3 via TKO (Ground Elbows)
MIDDLEWEIGHT BOUT
"The Siberian Predator" Fedora Vasilyev -VS- Betty Jimmerson
Betty: I'm not the best fighter out there. But I have the skills to beat the best. Vasilyev doesn't even come close. So you can already chalk this one up as an easy win for me.
Fedora: Betty and I may be the same size, but that's where the similarities end. I am stronger than her, I have better takedowns, and my ground game is far superior. Betty's only hope is to lay and pray, but she won't get that chance. I will break her.

"THE SIBERIAN PREDATOR" FEDORA VASILYEV
Origin: RUS
Height: 5'10"
Weight: 160 lbs
Record: 0-2-0
Strength: Sambo, Judo
ROUND ONE: Fedora was content to try and find her range against Betty, but Jimmerson made it much easier for her - closing the distance with fast, peppering strikes. But they weren't very hard, and Vasilyev blocked the vast majority. She fired back with some close elbows that forced Jimmerson to step back a bit, but then the "Siberian Predator" shot in for the double leg takedown. Betty made sure she had to work for it, but eventually Vasilyev powered her down to the mat. Betty was clearly uncomfortable on her back, and looked to roll Fedora over. Vasilyev wouldn't have it though, and Jimmerson ended up giving up her back. Fedora got her hooks in, and soon locked on a rear naked choke, forcing Betty to tap.
WINNER: Fedora Vasilyev at 4:13 of Round 1 via Submission (Rear Naked Choke)
LIGHTWEIGHT BOUT
"Hunter Killer" Hannah Kristian -VS- Megumi Shibata
Hannah: In some ways, Megumi and I are very similar. But in standup, and on the ground, I've got the advantage. I'm going to exploit both of them, while watching out for her clinch - which really isn't that strong to begin with.
Megumi: Kristian thinks she has all the answers to what I bring into this fight. She's wrong. I've been training harder than ever to prove to her and to everyone that I belong at the top of the Lightweight division.

ROUND ONE: Neithr woman was really interested in pushing the advantage right off the bat, saving their energy and working to establish their range. Both women looked to be pretty even in the standup, with a very slight edge going to Kristian. Shibata seemed a little bit cocky though, letting her guard down and daring Hannah to hit her. And the "Hunter Killer" was happy to oblige - landing a straight jab to the chin that convinced Megumi to bring her arms back up. Shibata then shot in for a double leg, but Kristian sprawled nicely, and picked Shibata up for a big piledriver slam. Megumi was still very much in the fight though as Hannah tried to finish her off. The round ended with Kristian in half guard trying to inflict as much damage as she could.
ROUND TWO: Hannah came out swinging in the second round, which forced Shibata to clinch up. However, Hannah worked to take her down from there, ultimately succeeding. She then tried to gain side control, but Shibata did well to defend it. Hannah then went for a kneebar, but Shibata prevented that as well. She held Kristian in her closed guard, delivering elbow strikes to the top of the head. But Hannah again tried to attain side control, and this time succeeded. She worked her ground and pound from there, cutting Megumi above the eye with some big elbows. But Shibata continued to defend herself, until Hannah applied an armbar. Megumi did everything she could to alleviate the pressure and turn the tide on her opponent, but she couldn't escape the hold, and was forced to tap.
