"BEAUTY ANGEL INVASION #5", (Samurai! TV)
Omiya Citizen Gymnasium
Attendance: 3,054
At long last, the wait was over. Over three thousand excited fans poured into the Omiya Citizen Gymnasium in anticipation of KOKORO's next show, Beauty Angel Invasion #5. And as always, the highly talented women of KOKORO didn't disappoint. Nor did the competitors representing Beauty Angels: Japan, for that matter.
- Fans on hand were very surprised by the finely tuned skills of newcomer Erika Sato. And so was her opponent, seasoned veteran Dalbello Rage. Dalbello started things off somewhat cocky and definitely confident, but she soon changed her approach when Erika nearly put her away following a dazzling poison rana off the top turnbuckle. That angered Rage though, who took out her agression on the Osaka native. She quickly grounded Erika, looking to submit her with a guillotine choke. But she fought through the pain and eventually escaped the hold. Later in the match, she turned the tables on her larger foe, ultimately delivering her devastating Aeria Gloris (cut-throat fisherman driver) to score what was arguably considered an upset victory.
- Next up was the Young Blood Battle Royal, which was a pretty wild melee from the start. All eight young women's skills were on display though, as each of them pulled off their big moves in hopes of eliminating one another. But surprisingly, all the BAJ women sought first to eliminate those from KOKORO, and vice versa. Rei Suzuki and Hitomi Akera stood out the most though, as Rei used every dirty trick in the book to gain an advantage over her opponents, while Hitomi brought the fight to a much more violent level than the other competitors would have liked. AMAYA Yamamoto made the first elimination, hitting a flip-over neckbreaker before dumping Yumi Kimura to the floor. AMAYA was then ousted by Michiko Shimoda after a Liger Bomb. Shane Taylor was then ousted by Azumi Tanaka and a Lungblower. Suzuki and Akera simultaneously eliminated Shizuka Komatsu and Azumi Tanaka respectively, after hitting their own finishers. Michiko Shimoda then took on both of her opponents, utilizing her surprising strength to her advantage. But they surprised her by working together to send her over. But she then hit the Rei-Gun on Akera, at which point the win was academic.
- As expected, the six woman tag match pitting Guerilla Kawasaki, Kyoko Kong, and Poison Sakai against Moonspell, Hoshiko Motoya, and Burning Calm Asaka, was nothing short of an all out brawl. And from the very beginning, Kong, Kawasaki, and Sakai looked to dominate their opponents. Which they succeeded in for much of the opening minutes of the fight. They brought all three of their opponents out to the floor and into the crowd, where they introduced an assortment of weapons to the mix. The fan favorites did everything they could to combat the overwhelming onslaught. And at times, their efforts weren't in vain. The trio banded together to take on each of their opponents one at a time. Which first involved separating them, which was no easy feat in itself. And Moonspell even came close to pinning Kawasaki at one time, after diving off the balcony and nailing her Big Bang Attack (corkscrew moonsault). But it just wasn't enough to gain them the victory. And Poison Sakai eventually got the win for her team, when she knocked out Asaka with a piledriver onto a pile of steel chairs.
- The fans showed Mina Yamaguchi a great deal of respect prior to her match with Jayde Griffen. But Jayde was none too pleased about this, saying that it was a betrayal of KOKORO. She vowed to show them how to REALLY show respect... and extended her hand to Mina, who cautiously accepted it. But as the handshake ended, and Mina tried to pull away, Jayde delivered a pretty nice roundhouse kick to the ribs, which officially started their match. Jayde's cheap shot got the match going at a breakneck speed, as Mina was determined to make the Australian show some proper respect. They went move for move and hold for hold, countering everything one another threw at eachother. When Mina hit a devastating straightjacket suplex, Jayde bounced right back and fired back with a sitout crucifix powerbomb. And the process continued. Neither woman was willing to be showed up by her opponent. But it was Griffen who eventually scored the win following the Fate's Hand (spinning inverted neckbreaker).
Post-match, the crowd expressed its disapproval at Jayde's lack of respect for a legend of joshi puroresu. She didn't seem to care one bit though.
- Next was the fifth in a Best of Seven Series between "Sugar Blossom" Izumi Sato and established veteran gaijin Tesla St. James. Fans were reminded that the series was tied at two matches apiece. Tesla and Izumi started things off with a respectful handshake. But once the bell rang, they were all business. Sato took her trainer down almost immediately, showing a little more aggressiveness than we've been used to, but it was clearly only in the spirit of competition. She immediately targeted Tesla's right leg, perhaps looking to weaken it for the Magic Fountain YX (STF/dragon sleeper combo). But she mixed in some neckbreakers to weaken the neck as well. St. James kept her composure though, and waited for the young Sato to make a mistake before turning things around. She imployed a bit more high impact arsenal, utilizing suplexes and piledrivers to knock the wind out of Izumi. Sato rallied back though, proving that she's been becoming more and more of a worthy opponent. She chose to continue her aggressiveness by going high risk. It paid off for a while too, until Tesla dodged a missile dropkick, and followed up by slapping on the Bastard Grinder. Izumi fought her way to the ropes, at which time Tesla released the hold. But after dragging her back to the center of the ring, St. James slapped on the Bastard Grinder again, and finally gained the submission victory.
- Achika Akatani came out proudly representing Kindred: Japan as always. Her opponent, Kaori Inoue, on the other hand, was pretty determined to come away with a win this night, after falling to Nina Grimsson a few shows ago. What they got was a great mix of violence and very crisp wrestling. It pretty much defined KOKORO to a tee. Kaori started things off fast and furious, mixing up speed, agility, power, and technique to keep Achika off-balance. But keeping Akatani off-balance is no easy feat, and didn't last for very long. As Inoue went for a kick, Akatani grabbed the leg, swept her other one, and effortlessly took her down to the mat. And from there, she worked her magic. Which meant vicious, unrelenting submissions. And fluid transitions from one to the next. But being a seasoned veteran with far more experience than Achika, Inoue had seen and dealt with people like her before. She remained calm, constantly looking for an opening. And she really had to force one open to turn the tide in her favor. The action went back and forth like this for some time, with both women exchanging very close pinning predicaments, as well as submissions. And Akatani succeeded in cutting Kaori open in the process. But it was Kaori who would have the last laugh, and a much deserved sense of relief, as she nailed Achika with a spin kick to the back of the head, which she calls the Kaori Inoue Super Special. The kick lead to her scoring a pinfall victory.
- It was fitting that the match of the night was in fact also the Main Event. Miho Nakamura, Sonya Benedict, Sayoko Nanohara, and Betty OSHI battled it out in four-way warfare. And the fans absolutely loved it from beginning to end. It was all out carnage, as there weren't any allies involved. All four women had a great deal of respect for eachother, but that didn't stop them from pulling out all the stops. And as was expected, Benedict introduced more hardcore elements to the fray. At one point, she put OSHI through a flaming table with her Psycho Driver. Betty later returned the favor, throwing Sonya up into the air with a back body drop, and then connecting with her mule kick that sent Benedict crashing through a pane of glass in the corner. Miho and Sayoko kept away from the hardcore stuff for the most part, except when on the receiving end of it. But they fought just as hard as the other two, and almost simultaneously pinned Sonya and Betty after a spin kick from Miho, and uraken from Sayoko. But it was not meant to be, as both women managed to escape defeat. The action was fast and furious throughout, with all four women holding the advantage over one another at one point or another. And all four women were covered in blood by match's end. And in the end, as Miho and Betty traded blows following a plancha suicida from Nakamura, Sayoko Nanohara delivered her devastating KO Thrush (Go To Sleep) on Sonya Benedict, knocking her out cold and gaining Nanohara a very big win.
